End of Abyss Scanner: doors, nodes and map marks

Scan a blocked route before spending supplies. The Scanner can reveal a required key, a power connection or a breakable wall and leave useful marks for a later visit.

Give the scan time to finish

On a controller, hold the right trigger for a deeper scan of an examinable target. A quick look and a complete examination are different actions. Read the resulting requirement before deciding what to do with the door.

The Scanner is not a combat stance. Running, dodging or drawing a weapon puts it away. Our practical recommendation is to make the room safe first, scan from a clear position, then switch back to your weapon when you need to destroy a node.

Match the readout to the next action

A power cable is the clue for the energy-node door check. A named key points to an exploration dependency. Those are different from a launch-version door fault, even when all three look like a door that will not open.

Scan resultWhat to do
Named key or keycardRecord the requirement and return when you own it.
Power connectionFollow the connection and check its energy node.
Breakable / explosive wallReturn with the required equipment instead of firing random shots.
Logbook entryKeep track of the category if you are completing the Logbook.

Turn a locked path into a useful return target

Scan marks help organize map and backtracking. Choose a specific target, such as a named keycard door on a remembered floor, instead of revisiting every locked passage whenever you obtain a tool.

The return notebook lets you keep your own sector, floor, requirement and next objective together. It stores your entries in this browser; it does not read the game save. For long completion runs, separate map coverage from the achievement checklist so a missing room does not get mistaken for a missing Logbook entry.

A blank map area is not always a fault

The map grows as you explore, and map stations can supply additional coverage. A place you have not visited is different from an incorrect open-door icon. The door-fix patch also corrects a missing room and some door icons resetting after a restart.

If you are missing a gun behind a recorded route, use the weapon location table for its sector and floor. This is more focused than trying to scan every room with no destination.
