End of Abyss save pods and death: what costs supplies

Treat a failed attempt as a supply expense. Revival at a Restoration Pod does not promise a refund for crafted ammunition or an expendable healing kit.

  3. Failed attemptSpent supplies can stay spent
Revival and replenishment are separate checks.

The pod and the workbench do different jobs

Restoration Pods are revival points. Workbenches nearby support weapon upgrades, while station spending also covers ammunition and equipment. Before a difficult route, separate the permanent upgrade you want from supplies you may consume on a failed attempt.

There are two healing ideas to keep apart: limited-use healing that recharges at a save pod, and expendable healing kits. Refilling the former is not a promise that the latter returns to your inventory.

Make the first retry a learning run

The weapon lookup helps identify which guns you are missing and the tools their routes require. It does not rank damage without reliable numbers. Check your Scanner habits if a blocked passage is spending ammunition without advancing the objective.

  1. Start with a specific question: which attack catches you, which route leads back, or whether the door requires a key.
  2. Preserve scarce ammunition until you have a reliable opening. The basic energy pistol has unlimited use, while shotgun ammunition is limited.
  3. Return to the workbench with a plan. Buy supplies for an approach you can repeat, rather than exhausting materials on attempts that fail the same way.

Separate an encounter failure from a revival fault

The patch fixes a freeze when Cel revives with the Defibrillator mod while still taking damage. Updating is appropriate for that specific symptom. It does not mean every difficult fight is a software problem.

If a death also interrupted an energy-node sequence, follow the door troubleshooting guide before abandoning the save. Keep the installed version and objective in your return notes so you can distinguish what happened on the previous attempt.

Keep progression and completion spending separate

For achievement cleanup, full weapon and Suit Power upgrades are separate goals from reaching the next room. Write down the goal that matters for the current run. You can plan a return route without assuming a missed weapon is permanently lost.

Before heading deeper into a new sector, use the backtracking checklist to decide whether the tools you have can finish the route. A short trip with a clear dependency wastes fewer supplies than an aimless search.
